  • Our Parish Priest: Father Leo Michael Marianu

    telephone number- 07464369206 email- leonardsj@gmail.com Fr Leo was a Sri Lankan Jesuit Priest. He studied theology at Heythrop College (2005-2009) London and trained as a psychodynamic psychotherapist in Westminster Pastoral Foundation (WPF Therapy London). He also worked as an assistant priest at St Anselm’s Church, Southall, London. He did social work and Ignatian retreat apostolate in Sri Lanka. In 2018 he moved to the United Kingdom again and was incardinated into the Diocese of East Anglia as Diocesan priest. He had been the Catholic chaplain at Norwich Norfolk University Hospital (NNUH) and Assistant priest in St John the Baptist Cathedral, Norwich. He was installed as parish priest at Our Lady Immaculate and St Etheldreda on 3rd October 2021 By Bishop Alan Hopes.

    Our Parish is blessed to have two very active deacons. Deacon John Morrill and Deacon James Hurst.

    Deacon John Morrill is a British Professor of History and an Academic who specialises in the political, religious, social and cultural history of early modern Britain. He was ordained as permanent deacon at the Parish of Our Lady Immaculate and St Etheldreda in 1996.

    Our Parish is blessed to have two very active deacons. Deacon John Morrill and Deacon James Hurst.

    Deacon James Hurst is the second deacon of Our Lady Immaculate and St Etheldreda, who was ordained on 22nd June 2019. He has played an active roll in the life of the parish, from volunteering for the food banks to maintaining the finances of the parish as well as being vicar of finance for the Diocese.

Diocese Listening and Prayer Ministry

Whatever you are going through right now it can help to talk; it can ease the burden and help you to see the way through.

We offer a Ministry of listening and prayer for parishioners in need.

Helpers are trained to handle situations such as bereavement, health issues, family and relationship problems, faith issues, depression, abuse, anxieties, workplace difficulties and life problems, amongst others. Over 18s only.

Pairs of trained Helpers listen to and pray with those in need, either in local parish rooms or online on Zoom, to talk through their personal struggles in a Catholic context.

All Helpers have undergone training in prayer, listening, spiritual guidance, safeguarding and GDPR.

Marriage

If you wish to get married and start the marriage preparation process please attend one of our Marriage meetings which are on every last Tuesday of the month at 2pm. If you wish to attend any of these meetings please contact the office on 01638 662492 or at StEtheldreda@btinternet.com

Baptisms

If you would like to Baptise your child please please come to one of our Baptism meetings, they are every last Tuesday of every month at 9:30. If you wish to attend any of these meetings please contact the office on 01638 662492 or at StEtheldreda@btinternet.com

First Holy Communions

If your child is in year 3 and has been Baptised then they are eligible for First Holy Communion. To sign your child up please contact the Parish Centre office in September on 01638 662492 or email us at: StEtheldreda@btinternet.com

Please note that to sign your child up it must be done no later than by the 1st of december as classes start in January.

Confirmation

we are very fortunate to be able to offer confirmation classes to anyone over the age of 14 who has had their First Holy Communion. To sign up please contact the office in September on 01638 662492 or email us at: StEtheldreda@btinternet.com
